Leadership Crucible

Leadership & Organizational Behavior

About This Simulation

Leadership Crucible focuses on the people challenges that make or break organizations. Student teams take on the role of a newly appointed leadership team at a company facing internal turmoil — declining employee engagement, departmental silos, cultural clashes after a merger, and resistance to a new strategic direction. Every decision tests a different leadership competency: communication, empathy, accountability, vision-setting, and conflict resolution. The simulation reveals how leadership style directly impacts organizational outcomes.

Week-by-Week Overview

1

Taking the Helm

You inherit a team with low morale, unclear direction, and simmering conflicts. Assess the situation, establish trust, and communicate your vision without alienating key people.

2

Conflict & Communication

Departmental rivalries erupt. A high-performer is toxic to the team. An underperformer has personal circumstances. Navigate these human challenges with empathy and accountability.

3

Culture & Inclusion

A merger brings together two very different organizational cultures. Bridge the divide, build an inclusive environment, and maintain productivity through the transition.

4

Crisis Leadership

A crisis hits — ethical dilemma, public backlash, or internal scandal. Your response defines your leadership. Make decisions under pressure that balance values with business reality.

5

Legacy & Succession

Build lasting organizational health. Develop future leaders, create sustainable practices, and ensure the organization thrives beyond your tenure.
